Foreign Minister Titus Corlăţean participated today, October 31, 2012, the seminar Smart Defence and Defence Investment , organized by the National Defense University Carol I of Romania Academy of Scientists and Analysis Center and Security Studies.

In his speech Romanian chief diplomat stressed that the main objective of the Alliance is about enhancing Member States, and this requires significant financial resources. Romania aims to achieve standards and support armies of NATO member states reform with adequate financial resources, according to the financial austerity. Minister Titus Corlăţean highlighted in the spirit of the new NATO Strategic Concept, as well as scaling capabilities Allied Declaration in 2020, the imperative of developing and maintaining a security and defense industry capable of meeting the requirements of national and Euro-Atlantic structures, both currently, especially long term.

“Euro-Atlantic area needs a sustainable defense industry, technologically advanced and globally competitive, and this goal can only be achieved through convergence and cohesion of the policies of the Allies. I appreciate, in this respect, that principles such as greater transparency, more open markets can be important milestones for this debate. Noting the close cooperation with the U.S. missile defense Romanian official stressed the practical utility and value such that the success of this project has for advancing the concept Smart Defence to NATO by the renewing culture of cooperation and ensure mutual benefits.

The event was held in the Central Library Auditorium Charles University in Bucharest.
